New information from the ACMA

Monday, 18 August 2014
From January 1st 2015 it will be illegal to use wireless products in the 750-800 MHz frequency range.

The wireless frequency spectrum is changing – all portable PA and wireless mic users need to be aware!

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) advise that wireless microphones should now be used indoors on the 520–694 MHz range – (provided no interference is caused to television broadcasting services). All 750-800 MHz products should be retired in preparation for the coming spectrum changeover. From January 1st 2015 it will be illegal to use wireless products in the 750-800 MHz frequency range.

The Chiayo wireless products have been shipping in this new range for over 2 years, which is excellent news for current users.

Don’t forget – you will be unable to use products that operate on the 750-800 MHz frequency bands after 1st January 2015, this includes old Chiayo wireless products and portable PA products that utilise wireless mics. If you are the owner or operator of a Chiayo portable PA system, you can upgrade the wireless mic components of your portable PA system to be legally compliant after January 1st – your entire portable PA product does not necessarily require a full replacement, just a wireless upgrade!

Upgrade paths and cost effective replacement options are available for purchase now from NAS, including trade-in deals for suitable older frequency products.
