3-Way Tri-Amped Active Line Array Module

VIO L1608 is a 3-way, tri-amplified active line array module that delivers dramatic output, refined clarity and consistent coverage from a deceptively compact footprint. It advances dBTechnologies’ research into precision-scaled acoustic architecture — in simpler words, bringing three-way performance to an enclosure the size of a traditional 2-way dual-8" array.

The enclosure contains dual 8-inch neodymium LF drivers, and a coaxial MF–HF driver - with a low crossover point around 600 Hz - which is assembled on an optimized waveguide, producing a stable horizontal response and a natural midrange character across the listening field. Side-Firing Bassreflex Port geometry enhances internal airflow and acoustic loading, supporting output performance that far exceeds expectations for the cabinet’s reduced physical volume.

Designed for real-world production demands, VIO L1608 incorporates several engineering principles that shaped the success of the VIO L1610, adapted here for the dual-8" platform. This includes improved environmental protection, an enhanced 3-point rigging system for faster deployment and current-generation VIO technologies such as inclinometer integration, opto-isolated preamps, NFC-assisted positioning, and a bright front ID LED for positioning and identification.

For the first time in a VIO module, the award-winning A2Net protocol is included as a standard feature, enabling high-resolution digital audio distribution and complete Aurora Net control. As part of the VIO ecosystem, L1608 benefits from matched phase response, latency and sensitivity across systems running firmware 2.0 or later, allowing seamless integration with VIO L1610, L212 and other modules in the platform. The new DRK-28 flybar supports both flown and stacked configurations and transports on the dolly, simplifying logistics and reinforcing a unified deployment workflow.

With its distinct acoustic architecture, deceptively compact footprint and dramatic output, VIO L1608 represents an evolution for compact professional sound reinforcement.
