Cloud Installation: One 50 Public House, Surfers Paradise

The Bundall waterfront property that was home to the popular Surfers Rowers dining and entertainment venue has been transformed and rebranded as One 50 Public House; a New York City-inspired restaurant, lounge bar and function centre.

Burleigh Heads based Rayjon Group has undertaken a $2 million extensive refurbishment. The venue will offer an upmarket take on the traditional pub with a contemporary city vibe.

Being just 2km from Surfers Paradise and in the heart of the Bundall office precinct, One50 is poised to tap into the areas growing workforce, with the Gold Coast City Council set to make its base in the area having acquired three nearby office buildings.

The Bundall area is undergoing a major renaissance and One 50 Public House was designed to meet the needs of the evolving community.

Work began last year on the new venue, which features a 70-seat restaurant serving bistro pub cuisine, a lounge bar and upstairs function venue with capacity for 350 guests.  There is also a hotel licence in place along with approval for up to 40 gaming machines.

The venue has an industrial warehouse theme, incorporating raw-look building materials and fittings. Large windows and alfresco deck areas will highlight the buildings north-facing frontage to the Nerang River and views to the Surfers Paradise skyline.

The venue is served by a state of the art Audio Visual system designed and installed by Mick James of Venutech – the Gold Coasts leading Hospitality Audio Visual and Lighting Installation Company.

Mick James was tasked with designing an AV system that would cater for the numerous different uses of rooms within One 50 yet provide a simple system that the bar staff could operate easily. This has been achieved with an ingenious use of analogue routing and local control with a powerful DSP matrix and control for the more complex processing. Cloud Z4 Matrixes feature as the Zone source routing system for each room. These are controlled from a number of RSL-6 remote source and level controls in service locations behind the bar, at reception and in each of the function rooms. Additional to these are LM-1 line/mic input modules, which provide local source inputs so the staff can easily configure a room for the changing needs. This could be anything from the audio from a laptop during a daytime meeting to a mix from a band or DJ’s console for night entertainment.

The result is the realisation of the old adage “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”.
